Haymarket Hotel summer wedding

Claire and Jon decided to hold the Wedding Reception at Piccadilly’s luxurious Haymarket Hotel in the heart of London’s Theatreland. The Regency built luxury hotel designed and owned by Kit Kemp, is simply stunning.

Both keen runners, Claire had gone for a run in Hyde Park on the morning of her wedding, as had Jon from home. I arrived at Haymarket and popped up to Claire’s Bridal Suite. The rooms at Haymarket Hotel are individually designed and are lavish in their use of colours and textures. Claire was being helped to prepare for the ceremony to her lovely Jon.

I love this part of the day - the nerves of the day are just beginning to make an appearance and time seems to run slower. Claire was understated in her classic beauty.

Jon and his Best Man were ready to go and looked terribly smart - I loved the tan leather shoes and blue suit. The Groom and Best Man had light pink roses as their buttonholes.

The Wedding Ceremony was held in The Music Room at Carlton House Terrace, the spectacular Grade I listed Georgian Townhouse located in the heart of Westminster. Light pink flowers were the flower of the day in every variety adorned The Music Room, the scent was glorious!

The Civil Wedding Ceremony was touching - In all my 18 (!) years as a wedding photographer, I have never tire of hearing love spoken about, promises made and first kisses placed.

The Bride and Groom and I popped out to take some portraits around the Regency buildings of Carlton Terrace. These moments are so touching and often the only time the Bride and Groom have to be alone on their wedding day - well, apart from the small Scottish Wedding Photographer following quietly in their wake!

Claire and Jon joined their Drink’s Reception and I moved back into the background which is a wonderful place to document the natural moments of the day.

As the couple left to move onto Haymarket Hotel their guests threw their confetti.

Haymarket Hotel’s Shooting Gallery was to be the location of the Wedding Breakfast. The room is dominated by the magnificent handmade ceramic chandeliers which hang down from the Conservatory Roof.

Claire and Jon both made wonderfully funny and incredibly touching speeches about each other and their wonderful guests. It’s a wonderful atmosphere to be moving around photographing family and friends enjoying each other's company so readily.

Just before leaving, we popped down to the hotel's swimming pool which is lit by hundreds of fibre optic lights for a final stunning portrait of the Bride and Groom.
